KPOP ISN'T JUST ABOUT THE MUSIC ANYMORE, FASHION IS JUST AS IMPORTANT!
When you're in the entertainment industry the world of fashion, film and music will always co-exist. They all feed off of each other because at the the end of the day we are all artists yearning to be creative. Number one, if you want to be a KPOP artist you must know how to sing and dance but it's just as important to create an image for yourself that is relevant and original. When a stranger first meets you, you want to make sure they remember who you are! We all look at KPOP stars and think they are some type of god, but in reality YOU too can get the look of an idol! Now follow these steps and practice your look like you would with any craft! With a lot of passion and hard work you will be looking just as fabulous, or even better than those you fan out to=) xoxo!

#1 - DO NOT BE AFRAID TO LAYER YOUR CLOTHES!

People are so afraid to look silly or be judged that they tend to always hold back when dressing up. Well I'm here to tell you to get out of your head and start experimenting and have fun! The old rules of wearing a simple dress, pumps and a cardigan is out the door, now this is what I call B.A.S.I.C! Ok now, if you love the the cute blue skirt and cardigan that is perfectly fine but if you want to dress like a KPOP star you it's time to amp it up! My suggestion would be to grab some spray paint and spray that dress with a couple colors, be creative! Instead of putting on that cardigan layer your top with a vintage black faux leather jacket to give it an edgy look. Everyone has those earrings that are way too heavy for your ears (you know what I'm talking about), turn them into a broach, be creative! If you have any extra fabric laying around you can transform that into a cute bracelet or belt...it's all about layering!!! Put those heels on and you're ready to go and have a fun night! Layering doesn't have to be scary, but it should be creative and fun! It only takes a few extra steps to look fabulous just like your idols!
#2 - ACCESSORIZE, ACCESSORIZE, ACCESSORIZE

From styling my band to numerous amounts of entertainers I have learned that the accessories are the things that give you that extra pop in your outfit! It's basically comparing a muffin to a cupcake, the icing and sprinkles are what makes the difference! Even if you have a simple outfit on, all you need to do is add a statement piece and you're ready to go out to the clubs! Check out these hair pieces, you can use is as a headband, make it into a necklace or even a bracelet; get creative!
#3 - ADD WILD BRIGHT PRINTS TO YOUR OUTFIT

People tend to shy away from prints but when you want to look like a kpop star this is a must! Prints spice up your outfit and show people that you are dressing outside the box. Now I'm not saying wear stripes with polk-a-dots, and a pucci print all at once, but adding stripes and polk-a-dots can make your outfit stand out and make it look quite interesting( if it's done right). When wearing prints you MUST separate them with solid colors so you don't look like a clown. As a kpop star you want people to stare at you in awe, but you also don't want to look like a freak. Remember to practice, practice, practice until you get it right!
#4 - ALWAYS HAVE A STATEMENT PIECE

KPOP stars ALWAYS have a statement piece. What exactly is a statement piece, well its a piece of jewelry or clothing that has that "wow" factor. When you're on stage it's normal to exaggerate your outfit but in everyday life you can always add a fun bright piece whether its neon pink heels or a highly decorated necklace to make your outfit stand out. I'm not saying everything you wear has to be outlandish but wear that one piece that stands out...try something new and be bold!

#5 - ALWAYS HAVE YOUR MAKE UP ON POINT ESPECIALLY YOUR EYELINER WE LOVE THOSE CAT EYES

In order to look like a star make up is an essential part of the image. Now you don't need to go nuts with neon blue lipstick and ten inch eyelashes but eyeliner is probably the most important part of your look. Eyeliner is not only fashionable but it works for all eye shapes. It gives you a mysterious and sexy look even if the rest of your make up is simple. It's pretty simple to master and it won't take you hours to do.
#6 - COLOR BLOCKING SHOULD BE YOUR BEST FRIEND

What exactly is color blocking you ask? Well, color blocking is a means of wearing different solid colors in an outfit. You can wear two or more different bright colors, it may seem simple but not always easy to do. Just to give you a little history on color blocking, it was popularized in the 60's known as the "Mod Style." Anywho, color blocking is a bold move but at the same time it can make your body look slimmer especialy when you combine bright colors with black. Sure all KPOP stars are doing so why can't you? Just know what works for your body type and style and have fun experimenting =)
#7: YOU ALWAYS GOTTA WEAR THOSE OVERSIZED SUNGLASSES!

Sunglasses are one of the most important accessories in order to look like a KPOP star! Sunglasses are essential for those nights of crazy partying until the sun comes up (it will hide your tired blood shot eyes, or dark circles under your eyes). If you have an interview the next day the glasses will hide your exhaustion lol. In terms of it being functional, many entertainers just don't have the time to get prettied up and glasses will hide the mess...so THANK YOU to those oversized sunglasses lol. In addition, sunglasses are a great accessory to any outfit, it gives your look a whole different personality. If you don't feel like dressing up just put on some oversized glasses and you're ready to go!
#8 - WEAR THOSE VINTAGE T-SHIRTS

Who doesn't love a vintage band t-shirt and the best way to show love to musicians that have influenced you is wearing their clothing right? Tshirts are so amazing because there are so many ways to style them. You can put on a vintage shirt with a conservative skirt and stilettos OR pair it with some ripped up jeans and a blazer, it's all up to you! If you're performing on stage you can even rip it up, shred apart and sew it onto a jacket,; the possibilities are endless so get creative!
SOMETIMES SOPHISTICATION CAN GO A LONG WAY

Just because you are a KPOP star doesn't mean have to go to the extreme in color or style. Sometimes a cute themed blazer and simple shorts paired with heels can work out perfectly. What I love about KPOP fashion is there really is no one rule. You can go out in the craziest outfits one day and wear something conservative the next. It's great switching things up because having one specific look can get pretty boring. The most important thing about fashion is that YOU feel COMFORTABLE in what you're wearing=)
# 9 - DYE YOUR HAIR A FUN COLOR

People are always afraid of changing their hair color especially if its a bright pink, blue or yellow, but sometimes you have to let go of that fear and just do it! Look if you don't like it you can always change it back but if you want to be noticed like a KPOP star why not try it??? Now I know idols tend to go to the extreme but it doesn't mean you have to. If you have black hair why not switch it up to a a dark red, you don't have to go too drastic. Change is always good, I've noticed when I change my hair color you feel like a new person so just go for it and have fun!
WHAT EXACTLY IS STYLE???
