GOT A SHEET MASK ADDICTION?
We delved into the world of Japanese sheet masks and learned everything we could about their most popular masks. What we found is that the most popular Japanese sheet masks are bulk sheet masks, super economically and meant to be used 3-4 times a week. We've compiled a list of our favorite below.
HOW TO CHOOSE THE BEST JAPANESE SHEET MASK
Bulk Sheet Masks
The majority of sheets masks featured on this list are Japanese bulk sheet masks, different from Korean sheet masks, which usually just feature one mask per package. Bulk Sheet masks are all packaged together in one single pack and you just grab one mask individually as needed. Since there are so many in a pack, sometimes 30 or more, users tend to use these masks much more frequently than the individually packaged Korean ones. Bulk sheet masks are super cheap and you can usually pick them up at the Asian supermarket.

Our #1 choice for the best Japanese sheet mask is Hadabisei's super moist facial mask. It's great for super dry skin and feels quite luxurious when you put it on. You'll love how soft and dewy your skin feels after just 20 minutes on the face.
Each package comes with five sheets. This mask is super focused on moisturizing the skin featuring hydrating ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, royal jelly royal lemon extract. There is so much serum in the package that you could easily stick the mask back into the package to marinate and re-use. It's a great value!
The sheet mask is made with what's called a waffle sheet, which really helps your skin absorb each and every drop of the hydrating essence. For great results and a burst of super hydration, make sure to check Hadabisei's sheet mask, our #1 pick for best Japanese sheet mask.

Brighten & Whiten
Our best runner up for our favorite Japanese sheet mask comes with a trusted Japanese brand name: Kose. Kose is the most popular sheet mask brand in Japan. You might've noticed that the packaging for Japanese sheet masks is much more utilitarian as compared to the super cute packaging of Korean sheet masks. Japanese products get the job done with no frills and fluff.
This white sheet mask features Vitamin C as one of its key ingredients, working to brighten and whiten the skin. There's no need for eye patches, as the under-eye area is covered by this sheet mask. Our skin was noticeably brighter after just one use, although the effect fades away without continual use of the mask. Once a week with the mask should do the trick!
We also love the sturdiness of this mask, and the fact that its not overly slimey so you can easily walk around the house and get some chores done while treating your skin!

Next up is Lululun's Rich Moisture mask, jam packed with 12 moisturizing ingredients. This mask is especially great for those with sensitive skin and noses, there are no added fragrances, mineral oils, or colors.
Five other masks are featured in this line including balance moisture, fresh clear, aging care moise and aging care moist. We especially love the super popular rich moisture mask featured above. Use it to get lovely soft and dewy skin afterwards. The masks are a bit smaller than other masks which can be an issue if you have a broader face.
This pack is an incredible value at $31 for 30 masks, each individual mask costs around $1.03. These masks aren't drenches in serums but they get the job done!

Anti - Aging
Last but not least, Hado Labo's makes it on our list one last time with their Anti-aging mask. This is a cotton sheet mask jam packed with an anti-aging essence to plump and hydrate tired, aging skin. You can trust this sheet mask because it has been clinically proven to increase the hydration in your skin by at least 2.5 times.
Soy peptides are included to strengthen the skin, vitamin E to protect the skin and collagen to plump up the wrinkles. Hyaluronic acid is also included. The hyaluronic acid in your skin fades over time so this mask replenishes your skin with three different kinds of hyaluronic acid. Four masks are contained in this package and it is non-fragranced.
Use this great anti-aging skin for a quick pick me up for tired skin or for a super hydration treatment for dry skin.

The Japanese are all about that snail slime also! We love this snail secretion mask from SPC. When we put it on our face we felt a little tingle that we didnt feel with other masks.
These masks are not fragranced and are completely free of mineral oils and colors. The masks are a bit difficult to pull out of the package, you might want to use a pair of tweezers to do the trick. We recommend using a mask cover with this sheet mask to help with maximum absorption of all the moisturizing ingredients.

This next bulk Japanese sheet mask packs come with 5 sheet masks. It's non fragranced and the sheet masks are made of 100% cotton. Check out Mandom's Barrier Repair which features a non-stinging formula.
Why is there a baby on the packaging? I supposed its trying to say that your skin will look like baby's skin. This mask has fast drying essence that features hyaluronic acid as one of the main ingredients. This is one of the most popular sheet masks in Japan!

Next up we have the Utena Premium Puresa Golden Jelly mask. This mask is specifically for aging using the royal jelly ingredient but the line also features masks featuring the following ingredients: collagen, hyaluronic acid and rose.
These Japanese sheet masks feature jelly! It contains 33 grams of essence with the mask which is almost double what is offered by some of the Japanese sheet masks. The sheet mask is pretty thin, so make sure to hold delicately so not to rip the mask. You don't get the most mind-blowing results with this sheet mask but its still a great treatment for the skin.

This next sheet mask is super fun. I'm a crazy cat lady so I'm definitely a fan of this "will you be a cat mask" which transforms you into a silly albeit super creepy cat. This mask is also available in several dog and cat varieties.
Hyaluronic acid, collagen and Vitamin E are featured ingredients in this mask. There is obviously ink on this mask used to create the cat mask so the jury is still out on the effect of that on our skin. It also does contain more allergens than the other sheet masks on this list.
But hey! It makes for a great selfie for Instagram so thats all that matters right?

This next item is not a sheet mask, rather it is an elastic silicon mask cover, which is meant to be worn over your sheet mask. This product is from Daiso so you know it's a great bargain! Worn over the sheet mask, it prevents evaporation of those valuable essences for maximum effect.
This mask is reusable and comes with ear loops to hold the mask in place so you can walk around with this mask on instead of being stuck lying on your back. You can also use it while in the bath for a steaming effect.
The mask cover kind of makes you look super scary because it flattens your face but you aren't leaving the house while wearing it anyways right? It's a bit tight on the face but it gets the job done and takes your sheet mask game up to another level!

Great work, well researched review article with insightful content. You must have put lot of work to make this huge post for people in need of Japanese skincare. Wish more article from your pen in the future.
Thank you for this post. I haven’t heard of a lot of these brands. However, I thought My Beauty Diary was Taiwanese? Is it a Taiwanese/Japanese collaboration?
