We recently used the Expedia Add-On Advantage™ to book a flight and hotel for a five day getaway to Puerto Rico. It's a new feature that Expedia introduced which unlocks countless hotel discounts after you've booked a flight, car, or package on the website. You can find out more here.
After you've booked your flight, car, or package on Expedia, unlocked hotel discounts will be available to you until the start of your trip. Just make sure that the hotel dates that you book take place within the trip that you booked on Expedia.
First we booked two round-trip tickets to San Juan, Puerto Rico! After that, we received an email confirmation from Expedia. Inside the email was a link to view hotels, which led us to a page on Expedia which highlighted the discounted hotels available.
After we clicked on the link we were lead the the hotel selection. Look for the yellow tag, these are the hotels where the Expedia Add-On Advantage™applies.
We ended up booking a stay at the Water Beach Hotel, a well reviewed hotel right in the heart of San Juan, and we received a healthy little discount courtesy of Expedia while booking it! It's so easy to book with Expedia because they have access to all kinds of flights, hotels, and packages to suit any needs.
We really appreciated that we were able to take an extra week to peruse all hotel options before booking our final selection at a discount via the Expedia Add-On Advantage™.
Here are some shots from the beautiful hotel
Thanks so much to Expedia for sending us to Puerto Rico for the first time! It was truly a gorgeous island filled with friendly people!
The Five Best 5 Day, 4 Night Vacations from Florida
You don’t need to travel far and wide to have a great vacation. Some of the greatest adventures I’ve ever had have been located closer to home than you would think. For those of you already living in the “sunshine state”, you’ve already got buckets of sun, sea, and sand, so where do you go to relax and get away from it all for a few days? Here are our ideas for the best getaways from Florida, remember that you can book them all with the Expedia Add-On Advantage™!
1. Cruise to the Bahamas
Once upon a time cruises were all about the oldies dancing the night away to the likes of Frank Sinatra and other golden oldies. But nowadays a cruise is a great place to go for fun, sun, and excitement onboard and shopping and a chance to visit some of the best tourist attractions when you moor up for the day.
It’s not as expensive as you’d think either. A 4-night cruise to the Bahamas from Florida will set you back somewhere in the region of $300 - $400 per person depending on the cruise line. Don’t forget that as well as your accommodation that covers your all your food, entertainment, and depending on your chosen package, your dinks too!
A cruise is a great way to see the sights from a different perspective and experience all the fun and exhilaration of being on a big vessel in the middle of the ocean.
2. Puerto Rico
From Florida, in less than 3 hours of flying time, you could be in the enchanted territory of Puerto Rico. Most known for its picturesque landscapes, and dynamic culture this is a place bursting with both natural beauty and history.
One of the greatest tourist hotspots the island has to offer is the capital city of Puerto Rico, San Juan. As well as all the tropical beaches and world-class dining options the New San Juan has to offer, just a stone’s throw away is the Old San Juan - a place filled with cobblestones streets and colonial charm.
An average 4-night, 5-day stay in Puerto Rico including flights from Florida will cost around $800 - $900 per adult. And, the best part is, if you’re traveling from the U.S., you don’t even need a passport!
3. Cancun, Mexico
If you’re looking for somewhere that has pristine white beaches, and some of the softest coral sand you’ve ever felt, then why not head over to the beautiful city of Cancun in Mexico for some well-deserved r&r?
With a flight time of less than 2 hours from Miami, this is a great place to go for a short break. Because very little time is spent traveling to your destination you have loads more time to spend hitting some of the best tourist hotspots like the Mayan ruin site, the majestic Isla Mujeres, or Tulum, Aquaworld where you can swim with dolphins!
You can easily get an all-inclusive 5-day, 4-night vacation to Cancun from Florida for less than $900 per adult and still have money left over. And whether you want a nice relaxing beach vacation, or you want to soak in the culture and history instead, you can be sure there’s something for everyone here.
4. Nashville
Living in Florida, you may feel that you get enough sun, sea, and sand all year round, in which case you may want to consider Nashville for your next short trip. Home of the Grand Ole Opry, the County Music Hall of Fame, and of course, there’s plenty of Elvis experiences to encounter too.
Even if you’re not a big music fan, Nashville has so much more to offer including the historic Jack Daniels Distillery and Vanderbilt University. You could also take a trip to visit President Andrew Jackson’s former home, the Hermitage.
In less than 2 hours of flying time, you can be in the heart of the music city where you can enjoy a 5-day 4-night trip to Nashville (including flights) for less than $500 per adult.
5. New York, New York
Spreading out a little further from Florida, but still within easy reach, is the fabulous New York. Home of big lights and yellow taxi cabs, the city that never sleeps is another place that easily satisfies everyone who visits. Whether you’re looking for fun and excitement, beautiful views, or a history lesson or two, this place has it all.
Some of the top tourist attractions to add to your list while here include the Empire State Building, Central Park, the Statue of Liberty, and good, old Broadway, where the real magic happens. A 5-day, 4-night trip to New York will no doubt cost you more than most other places on this list, but it’s well worth the extra if you can afford it.
We hope you enjoyed the above and are now ready to get booking your next vacation with the Expedia Add-On Advantage™. Wherever you decide to go on your travels this year, just remember to have fun and stay safe!
