I am all about GIRL POWER! It’s so important that as females, we are empowered by having the ability to make our own decisions about our bodies. It’s been a crazy year with all the #METOO controversies, involving men in positions of power, taking advantage of their positions by preying on women and their bodies. I am so glad that these issues are being brought to light and that the men that perpetuate these indecencies for years are being punished for their actions.
For women, it's so powerful that the younger generations are realizing that these abuses of women are not ok, and I feel like things will be much improved in the future. Along the same lines, as women, we need to ensure that future generations will maintain control over their bodies, whether it be in the workplace or with their contraceptive options.
There are many popular methods of birth control all around the world. Below are some of those forms of birth control and an emergency contraception option.
Plan B One-Step - The Ultimate Back up Plan
I was pretty interested in learning how emergency contraception like Plan B One-Step works, Most birth control pills include an active ingredient called levonorgestrel. Plan B One-Step also includes levonorgestrel, but at a higher, single dose. Plan B contains a higher does of levonorgestrel than birth control pills but works in a similar way to prevent pregnancy. What it does is that it actually helps to prevent a pregnancy before it even starts, by delaying or preventing ovulation.
What I didn’t realize is that it isn’t an abortion pill. If you are already pregnant, Plan B One-Step will have no effect on your pregnancy.
You will want to take your Plan B One-Step pill ASAP; it will work better the sooner that you ingest the pill and you must take it within 72 hours of unprotected sex or issues with your birth control methods. Time is of the essence!
You don't have to worry at all about long-term fertility, Plan B One-Step has no effect on this. Also, the best part is that you can remain totally anonymous if you so choose. You won't need a prescription from your doctor to purchase Plan B One-Step, you don't even need to show your ID!
Emergency contraception is an incredibly important option for women to have available to them. There is a common belief that only younger women use Plan B One-Step when in fact half the women who use Plan B One-Step are over the age of 25.
When taking the Plan B One-Step pill, you will need to make sure to use it as directed. Follow the directions carefully on the provided packaging.
If for whatever reason you cannot locate the Plan B One-Step in your store, you can always call your pharmacy to have them find it for you and tell you where it is available. There should be no questions asked.

Condoms
Condoms are one of the most popular forms of birth control around the world. They are easy and convenient to use but they may not feel great to use during sex and can slip off during sex. Also, an issue is that they are not 100% effective and can rip during sex.
Birth Control Pills
Regular birth control pills are a highly effective form of birth control, as long as you are taking them consistently as prescribed. Depending on the birth control pill you are taking, they can help with your acne. They could also make you gain weight. You might have to talk to your doctor to try several brands of birth control pills to find the right one for you.
The Pull-Out Method
Definitely not recommended, the pull-out method involves the male pulling out before ejaculating to prevent pregnancies. It’s a pretty unreliable form of contraception.
There are still many other contraception methods available such as IUDs and diaphragms. Talk to your doctor about birth control options.
Plan B One-Step is not for regular birth control but the ultimate back-up plan for if any of your typical contraception methods go awry, for example if you forget to take your birth control pill or your condom breaks. Thank God we have such an effective back up emergency contraception so readily available to us!
